Teknaf OC Pradeep surrenders to police

Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge Pardip Kumar Das and eight others including Baharchara Police outpost Inspector Liakat Ali have been produced before the Cox's Bazar court in connection with the killing of retired Army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in police firing.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Thursday.

The presence of huge security personnel was seen around the court premises following the development of the case.

Earlier on Wednesday night, arrest warrants were issued against Pardip Kumar, Baharchhara Check-post In-Charge Liyakat among nine policemen over the incident.

On Wednesday, Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed a case with the court of Teknaf Upazila Judicial Magistrate court. On the same day, Pradip Kumar Saha was withdrawn to the police lines over the killing.

Inspector of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre Liyakat Ali and Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Prodip Kumar Das were made first and second accused of the case respectively.

Other accused are - policemen Nando Dulal Rakkhit, Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Md Abdullah Al Mmaun, Liton Miah, Tutul, and Md Mustafa.

Earlier on Friday night, Sinha was killed in police firing in Cox's Bazar Marine Drive. A witness said he saw the police firing in which Major (Retd) Sinha was shot and died later. Claiming the incident a murder, he said everything happened in just 30 minutes.
