Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed has said the persons, who will be found involved with the killing of retired Army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, will have to face trial for their misdeeds.

"We want to see it as a stray incident. And only the officers involved in the incident will be punished. We also want a clear and transparent investigation," the Army chief said during a press briefing after a meeting with Inspector General of Police in Cox's Bazar today.

General Aziz Ahmed said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina talked to Major Sinha's mother and assured her of a proper investigation."

IGP Benazir Ahmed said, "Police and army have been working together in all crises, throughout the pandemic and in the flood situation now. I request to look at the death as an isolated incident. Some people are trying to make it a police vs army argument. Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Army are skilled forces. They will not give in to such provocations."

Chattogram DIG Golam Faruk, Cox's Bazar District Administrator Kamal Hossain, Police Superintendent AMB Masud Hossain, and high officials of both police and army headquarters were present in the meeting.

Earlier on Friday night, Sinha was killed in police firing in Cox's Bazar Marine Drive.
