A writ has been filed with the High Court to challenge the recommendation of Wasa board to reappoint Engineer Taqsem A Khan as managing director (MD) for the next three years.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Tanvir Ahmed filed the writ on Thursday on behalf of former additional chief engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board Khandaker Manzur Murshid.
On September 19, the board of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) made the recommendation at a virtual meeting.
AKM Hamid, a member of Dhaka Wasa board, confirmed the matter after the meeting.

The recommendation to reappoint Taqsem came five days after he was rebuked by the High Court for his negligence in disconnecting sewerage lines in the Buriganga.
However, engineer Waliullah Sikder, a member of the board, claimed that he was opposed to the proposal for Taqsem’s reappointment.
He raised the corruption issue relating to Taqsem and demanded the formation of a probe committee to investigate the charges of corruption.
Taqsem A Khan was appointed managing director of Dhaka Wasa in 2009 and subsequently reappointed five times, despite allegations of corruption against him.
