Best officers of Women Help Desk awarded

At the initiative of Bogura District Police, awards were given to best Women and Children Help Desk officers of all police stations during their bi-monthly review meeting on Monday morning.

Bogura Superintendent of Police Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan presided over the function held at  Bogura Police Lines Auditorium and distributed prizes among the best officers and volunteers.  Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Tuhin, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Abdur Rashid, Deputy Director Social Services Department SM Kawsar, District Women and Children Affairs Officer Shahidul Islam and others spoke at the programme.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the district police and officers in charge of all police stations. At the ceremony, prizes were given to 11 people including a circle officer, officer-in-charge of the police station and volunteers.

Bogra Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakraborty said there are women and children help desks in all Bogura police stations where women officers of ASI of SI rank are working.

As of August 2020, a total of 4,651 complaints including cases of sexual harassment, physical harassment, dowry, human trafficking, acid throwing, mental torture etc. have been settled in 12 police stations in Bogura.

Among them, 2,993 were provided counseling services, 209 cases were filed, 319 referral services were provided, 309 GDs were filed and the rest of the complaints were settled in other ways.
