The Election Commission (EC) will publish the draft voter list on January 2. The commission has requested urgent corrections from those whose NIDs are incorrect.
EC’s public relations wing informed this on Sunday (December 8).
EC Director (Public Relations) Md. Shariful Alam said that the voter list will be published on January 2. Those who have errors in their NID are urgently requested to go to the relevant upazila or thana election office and correct the errors prior to this time.
Some of the Interim Government’s advisers are hinting that “elections could be held next year”.
On Saturday, while participating in a conference of the Bangladesh Development Research Institute at a hotel in the capital, Wahiduddin Mahmud, an Adviser to the Ministry of Education and Planning, said, “This government of ours is very short-lived. I personally think we will see a politically elected government next year. I don’t know what will happen.”
Meanwhile, the EC is publishing a festoon with messages such as “Become a voter on your own initiative, vote on time, vote for your preferred candidate, and elect an honest and qualified candidate”.
