The education boards have planned to defer next year’s SSC and equivalent exams by two months. As per that, this exam can be held in April next year after the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr. In that case, the HSC and equivalent exams will also be delayed by about two months. This exam can be held in June next year.

This information was obtained by sources from Dhaka Education Board on Saturday (November 2)

As per the calendar, the SSC exams are usually held at the beginning of February and the HSC exams at the beginning of April every year. However, due to the advent of COVID-19, the entire curriculum has been messed up since March 2020. SSC exams in 2023 started on April 30. After that, the situation started to become normal from last year. Last year this exam started on February 15. However, next year it will be deferred again.

Meanwhile, the education boards started preparing for the SSC exam assuming that the exam will be held in February next year. As a result, the test exams are currently underway in schools. Even form filling has also been announced from December 1. However, it was suddenly decided to postpone the exam. But no one related to the education board is saying anything about the reason why the exam is being delayed.

An official of the Dhaka Education Board, on condition of anonymity, said, “Due to the recent political unrest, there has been a loss of study in educational institutions. Due to this, it was not possible to finish the syllabus properly. There are also applications from students and parents. Therefore, so that there is no problem with the examination in February, the SSC examination has been postponed and the plan has been taken to take it after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.”

Dhaka Education Board sources state that next year’s SSC and equivalent exams will be held in “full syllabus”. This exam will be conducted with full marks and time in all subjects. However, the HSC and equivalent exams will be on a “shortened or restructured syllabus” as of 2023.
