A committee has been established to investigate the recent fire at the Secretariat, the country's administrative centre. Mohammad Nahid Islam, the advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the interim government, announced that the committee is expected to submit its preliminary report by Monday, December 30.

Speaking to reporters in front of the Secretariat on Sunday, December 29, Nahid Islam confirmed that the investigation into the fire at Building No. 7 is ongoing. He stated that the committee has been given three days to complete the preliminary report, with some details expected to be released the following day.

He expressed concern over the incident, suggesting that it could have been an act of sabotage or a planned attack. If that is not the case, he emphasized the need for long-term reforms to prevent similar incidents in the future. He hopes the investigation will provide clarity on the matter.

In addition, Nahid Islam addressed the issue of visitor passes for the Secretariat, announcing that they will be more restricted moving forward. Temporary passes issued over the past four months have caused various issues, and all previous passes will be cancelled. New passes will be issued following established regulations.
