The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified the person who shot at former US President Donald Trump during an election rally in western Pennsylvania on Saturday (July 13) as a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

The police are assessing the motive of the attack.

Trump, sharing details about the attack in Butler, Pennsylvania, on his Truth Social platform, said, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.” “Much bleeding took place,” he added.

According to a statement by the Secret Service, the shooter was dead, one rally attendee was killed and two other spectators were injured. The incident is being investigated as an assassination attempt, the FBI has said.

Soon after the shooting took place, Trump’s rival, US President Joe Biden, condemned the attack, stating that there was no place for violence in politics.
