The government's permission must be obtained before taking any case into cognizance bringing charge solely against any government official while discharging duties.
The Cabinet Division on Tuesday sent a letter in this regard to the secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The letter asked to take the necessary steps to ensure the rules and regulations contained in various laws in this regard.
Govt officials barred from talking to media without permission
The move comes after two cases filed in a magistrates' court against six government officials, including Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Rahima Khatun, alleging that four dredgers used in the work of filling the soil by two contractors, had been set on fire and eight others had been vandalised.
Copies of the letter have also been sent to the chief secretary to the Prime Minister, secretaries and senior secretaries of all ministries, divisional commissioners, and deputy commissioners.
