Banks near cattle markets to remain open until 8pm

Bangladesh Bank has directed scheduled banks to keep the branches near cattle markets in Dhaka open for extra time.

In the directive, the central bank said bank branches near cattle market has to be kept open for extra time from 4:00pm to 8:00pm to help cattle traders and buyers safe money transaction near the city’s makeshift cattle markets.

At the same time, BB also asked to keep open bank branches on Friday, first day of Eid holyday, from 10:00am to 8:00pm to meet the transaction demand of the cattle markets.

The Banking Regulation and Policy Division of Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday.

According to the circular, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a large number of traders gathered at the sacrificial animal markets under the supervision and management of Dhaka north and south city corporations. Huge amount of cash is transacted in these markets.

As a result, the security of financial transactions in these cattle markets is very important. Branches of various banks conduct regular banking activities near the sacrificial animal markets.

 Traders can use their bank branches near the hats to transact money for the sale of their animals. Apart from that, traders can get help from the bank if a temporary booth is opened at the cattle market, BB circular added.

For this, the central bank has said that the bank branch of Dhaka north and south city Corporations near cattle markets can be kept open till 8:00 pm till July 30 under special arrangements.
Apart from this, the activities of these branches will continue from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on July 31.

Bangladesh Bank has asked banks to pay special allowance to the officers and employees who are in additional duties and for duties on the holidays.
