Bus-truck collision on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway leaves one dead, injures 15

A collision between several vehicles, including a passenger bus, occurred on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, leaving one person dead and at least 15 injured.

These accidents occurred at three separate places including Chaltipara and Hasara in Sreenagar on the expressway on Sunday (December 22) morning. The injured were rescued and treated at the Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex. 


Sreenagar Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Abul Kalam Azad confirmed this. 


The deceased has been identified as Md. Farhad Hossain (40), a resident of Bhanga area of ​​Faridpur. He was a bus driver.


Hasara Highway Police Station ASI Sagir Mia said the accident took place around 6 am on Sunday, some distance from the Nimtala area of ​​Sirajdikhan on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway. The vehicles were heading towards Mawa from Dhaka.


It is learned that two cargo trucks collided in the early morning. Then, at around 7:30 am, another bus hit a bus from behind. Several people were injured in the incident. At the same time, a pickup van ran over a private car. Several others were injured.


Meanwhile, upon receiving news of such an accident, the Highway Police and Fire Service rushed to the scene and started rescue operations.


Upon receiving information about the accident, the police are trying to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene and normalize traffic on the highway. Several vehicles collided due to dense fog in the morning. The injured in the incident have been rescued from the scene and sent to the Upazila Health Complex, ‍said Hansara Highway Police Station OC Abdul Quader Jilani.
