Exports through the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria have returned to normal after a prolonged vacation over Eid-ul-Fitr, a major religious festival for Muslims.
"The export of products to India started on Saturday morning," said Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of the Akhaura Exporters-Importers Association.
"Meanwhile, several trucks loaded with cement and edible oil have already entered India from Bangladesh," he added.
This has brought back enthusiasm among businessmen and labourers at the port.
Exports through one of the country's largest land ports which is fully dedicated to exports was halted for eight days – from May 22 to May 29.
