Several benches of the Appellate Division and the High Court will function virtually till June 15 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The apex court of the country announced its decision in a press release on Saturday.
According to the press release, the chief justice discussed the matter with the Supreme Court judges, and it was decided that, from May 31 to June 15, the judicial activities at both divisions will continue virtually.
The Supreme Court administration has also decided to conduct emergency proceedings in the lower courts of the country virtually till June 15, read a notification signed by the Registrar General of the Supreme Court Ali Akbar.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Saturday issued a circular on the formation of 11 High Court benches.
Earlier, the court formed a bench of the Appellate Division and four benches of the High Court for running judicial activities virtually amid the general holidays that the government had declared to rein in the spread of the novel coronavirus.
