Newly appointed Inspector General (IGP) Baharul Alam said that mass arrest cannot be done only if there is a name in the case. The police will not arrest anyone wholesale. Innocent people should not be harassed. Action will be taken against the plaintiff if the case is deliberately false.

The IGP said this in response to a question at a press conference held at the Hall of Integrity of the police headquarters on Thursday.

At this time, how many police officers or members were involved against the students? When asked whether any action is being taken against them, the Inspector General of Police said, it is subject to investigation. There have been many cases after the uprising. Many police officers were arrested. Many are innocent but have been accused. Many others are guilty but are not arrested as they are not identified.

The IGP said it is really difficult to find out how many of 2,13,000 policemen were against the mass uprising. But I will do it. It must be done.It has to be done for the sake of the police force.

At this time, IGP Baharul Alam also said that the election would be thought about after regaining the morale of the policemen, instilling the spirit of work among them, and gaining the trust of the people.

He said, now the police have full power to cooperate in organizing a fair and impartial election.

The erstwhile police force assisted in vote rigging during the previous government era. Whether the police will be used as a party in the future or not, what kind of measures are being taken to monitor them and how prepared are the police so far to present a fair and impartial election to the nation, Journalists asked the IGP.

In reply, Baharul Alam said, we could not go to the stage of election. Now we are trying to bring back the morale of the police force and install passion in them and take the police to the people. So that people can trust in police. We want to go to that place first.

He said, "I want to go to every division from next week and talk to the police force, I want to hear their stories. There is a lot of frustration and anger among them. I want to see those places. After taking the police force to that level, maybe we will think about the election later. However, I can give a blind check on one issue. We have full power to provide police assistance in organizing a fair election."

There were three elections during the previous caretaker government, we conducted them. I am sure of this. We are able to organize free-fair elections.
