Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Mohammad Motaher Hossain, chief of the Department of Prison, today said that among the 22 hundred convicts who escaped from the various prisons of the country by creating chaos during the mass-uprising, more than 700 convicts are still missing. Among them are 70 “high-risk prisoners including top terrorists”.
He informed this at a press conference at the Department of Prison in the capital’s Old Dhaka around 11:30 am on Wednesday (December 4).
Brigadier General Syed Mohammad Motaher Hossain also said that 174 accused have been bailed or released from the prison so far, of these, 11 top terrorists were released. The matter of their release is entirely up to the court.
