Unscrupulous persons and vested interests are cheating the industrial estates by using the names of senior army officers. Concerned authorities have been urged to take legal action against these fraudsters.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said this in a circular on Friday.

The notification states that lately, some unscrupulous persons and vested interests are using the names of senior army officers to resort to false business authorisations and other fraudulent activities, tarnishing the army's image.

The Bangladesh Army is relentlessly performing its duties in the industrial areas only to control the law and order situation and to ensure a production-oriented working environment. It is not within the purview of the army to make any recommendation regarding the industrial factory or any other business.

The notification also said that legal action would be taken against any person or group using the name of an army officer to obtain illegal business or unethical facilities in the industrial area.

ISPR has called for complaints about these fraudsters. For this, it is asked to contact the following numbers- 01769091020, 01769095198, and 01769095209.
