Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated a special lounge for the country's migrant workers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) today (November 11).
"Our migrant workers are nation builders. In the July-August mass uprising, they played a big role. We will always be grateful to them," he said.
"We believe this lounge will make their journey easier," he added.
This is the first such expatriate lounge at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Migrant workers can relax and eat subsidized meals in this lounge. Law and Expatriate Welfare Advisor Asif Nazrul and senior officials of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) were present on the occasion.
The law advisor paid rich tributes to the Bangladeshi migrant workers and millions of members of the country's diaspora who sacrificed time and again for their homeland.
In this regard, Deputy Chief of IOM Mission in Bangladesh, Fatima Nusrath Ghazzali, said that the United Nations organization has sponsored the lounge to help Bangladeshi migrant workers. It is an initiative of the Chief Advisor. We are delighted to support this initiative. In addition, IOM is sponsoring around 100 volunteers to assist migrants at the airport.
