Israeli forces killed at least 44 people in Gaza and 31 people in Lebanon on Saturday, including six Lebanese rescue workers and two Palestinian journalists, according to officials.

Qatar says its mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas have been “stalled” until the parties to the conflict show a “willingness and seriousness to end the brutal war”.

A UN-backed assessment warns of “an imminent and substantial likelihood of famine occurring” in Gaza amid increased hostilities and a near-halt to the entry of food aid.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 43,552 Palestinians and wounded 102,765 since October 7, 2023. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day and more than 200 were taken captive.

In Lebanon, at least 3,136 people have been killed and 13,979 have been wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.
