Dengue: 1 dead, 477 hospitalised in 24 hours

Another person died of dengue in the 24 hours leading up to Friday morning, taking the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 269 this year.

This information was informed in the dengue bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.


It is said that 228 people from Dhaka City Corporations and the rest are from outside Dhaka among those who were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the last 24 hours. During this time, 1,023 people were discharged from hospital.


So far this year, 54,702 people have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue. Among them, 50,647 people were released.


Last year was particularly severe, with 1,705 deaths recorded, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
