It may be possible to hold elections by 2025, remarked Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul.

He made this comment while participating in a discussion program of a private television channel on Thursday (October 17) night.

“The Digital Security Act will be repealed,” Dr. Asif Nazrul said at the event, mentioning that he did not say anything about the trials of journalists at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

In response to a query about lodging cases after cases, Asif Nazrul replied that “absence cases” used to be carried out with the help of the previous government and‍ these were done by the police. The cases used to be against the people of the then-opposition party. Now there are case after case.

“Those who were subjected to torture during the previous government regime are filing these cases. The Interim Government is working to ensure that innocent people are not punished in these cases,” he said.

Apologizing to the people for the increase in the commodity prices, he said that the price of vegetables is so high that the sales have decreased. Due to the flood, the supply of eggs has been reduced. During the previous government, all control was done through “syndicates”.

“You have been serving on the advisory board for 70 days, is there any mistakes” – in response to such a question, he said that there may have been some mistakes. Because I have less experience. But I can say this – I “did not do wrong knowingly”. I could be wrong in principle. However, I did not do any work for personal interest.

In response to another query, Asif Nazrul said, “We are in the process of repealing the Digital Security Act. People cannot hear these names.”
