The government has fixed the new price of chicken eggs at producer, wholesale and retail levels across the country. This price will be effective from Wednesday.

Director General of the Consumer Rights Protection Directorate Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan informed this information after meeting with egg producers and suppliers on Tuesday.

He said that it had been decided to sell per piece of eggs at 10 taka 91 paisa at the producer level, 11 taka 1 paisa at wholesale level and 11 taka 87 paisa at the retail level. However, at the consumer level, a dozen eggs will be 142 taka 44 paisa.

Meanwhile, the Department of Consumer Rights Protection is conducting regular raids in the market to implement the fixed price of eggs. Because of this, the traders of Tejgaon area of the capital have stopped selling eggs.

Egg prices did not drop significantly during the campaign, but instead created a shortage in supply.

It has been found out in some markets of the capital that the farm's red and white eggs are being sold at Tk 180 per dozen. Apart from this, the price of eggs has increased up to Tk 190 per dozen.
