‘Half-Pass’ for students 7 days a week introducing today

The ‘Half-Pass’ facility has been introduced for students in public transport plying in the capital Dhaka 7 days including weekends. Students will get this benefit from today, Monday (September 23).

Dhaka Road Transport Owners’ Association (DRTOA) general secretary Saiful Alam said at an awareness seminar for transport owners and workers at Engineering Institute Auditorium in the capital Dhaka on Monday (September 23).


“From today, students can enjoy the ‘half-pass’ facility in Dhaka metropolitan area subject to showing ‘uniform or photo NID’. Students can avail of this half pass facility on 7 days including weekends,” he said.


Saiful Alam also said it has been decided to “cancel the previous period (8 am to 8 pm) and provide a half-pass facility from 6 am to 12 pm”. This decision will be effective on all routes and city buses in the Dhaka metropolitan area.


Abdullah Mehedi Dipto, convenor of Nirapod Sarak Andolon (NISA), said that the half pass was implemented to “thank the students” for their special contribution to the mass movement of 2024.


Abdullah Mehedi Dipto urged the government to implement this “half pass” not only in buses but also in all modes of transport including railways and boats.
