Interim Government’s Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has left Dhaka for New York to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On Monday, September 23, he departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital, accompanied by 57 delegates.
Dr. Yunus is scheduled to deliver a speech at the high-level general debate on September 27. Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain announced this during a media briefing on Bangladesh's participation in the 79th UN General Assembly session, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, September 21.
During the UN session, Dr. Yunus is also expected to have a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden. Several national media outlets reported this on Saturday, citing diplomatic sources from both countries.
The Chief Advisor is expected to depart New York for Dhaka on the night of Friday, September 27.
