Finance and Planning Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said the interim government hardly trying to control inflation. He also assured that the prices of daily commodities will decrease.
Finance and Planning Adviser said these after a meeting with the stakeholders to review the current price inflation and food supply situation at the secretariat of the Finance Ministry on Wednesday (August 14) and reduce the price inflation to a tolerable level.
He said, 'The concerned have been instructed to work on how to quickly control inflation. We have already started focusing on production and delivery. Who to catch, and who to stop is not the main issue. Now the main task is to reduce the price of goods.'
Salehuddin Ahmed also said, 'It will not be possible to reduce the price of goods overnight. But the price will be reduced for sure. There will be a relief among people soon.'
The financial adviser also said that if the production increases, the supply in the market will increase. The Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to take measures to increase production.
Under the chairmanship of Salehuddin Ahmed, the new governor of Bangladesh Bank Ahsan H Mansur, Senior Secretary of Internal Resources, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, Secretary of Food Ministry, Secretary of Agriculture Ministry and Secretary of Commerce Ministry were present in this meeting.
