The former Prime Minister of the country, Sheikh Hasina, resigned and left the country, unable to withstand public anger. In response to the issue, China said Beijing is closely monitoring the changed situation in Bangladesh after the fall of the Awami League government.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian responded in a written statement on Tuesday (August 6).
Referring to Bangladesh as a friendly country and strategic partner, China said that they hope that social stability will soon return to the country.
China's position is third among the countries providing loan assistance to Bangladesh. It is believed that China has given Bangladesh a loan of about 3 billion dollars since the fiscal year 2019-2020, which is about 40 percent of the total loan.
