Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Dr Kh Mahid Uddin said that after the Supreme Court stayed the status quo on the order of the High Court, there is no reason for the quota movement. So legal action will be taken if the quota protesters block the road.

The DMP official said this while addressing a press conference at Ramna Minto Road in the capital on Thursday (July 11).

"We have sympathy and love for the students. But we have to be respectful to the High Court ... We are requesting that no programmes be held that cause suffering to the people," he said.

They were on the road for the past 10 days. We have considered their problems. But if they do not pay attention to our call now, that will be a crime, he added.
