The BNP leader had been suffering from pneumonia and cold-related problems for the last several days
Muhammad Abdul Haque, adviser to the BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, died with pneumonia and other cold-related problems at a hospital in Sylhet on Friday.
Barrister Riashad Aziz, son of MA Haque, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The BNP leader breathed his last at North East Medical College and Hospital in Dakkhin Surma around 10:30am, said Dr Nazmul Hoque, in-charge of the hospital’s coronavirus unit.
The BNP leader had been suffering from pneumonia for the last several days and he was taken to the hospital a few days ago.
Later, he was shifted to the ICU of the hospital on Wednesday where he died on Friday.
"On suspicion of Covid-19, his swab samples were collected and sent to the laboratory on Thursday," said Dr Nazmul Hoque.
MA Haque, former president of Sylhet district unit BNP, has left behind a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
