Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday greeted Gabriel Attal on his appointment as the new French Prime Minister.
In a signed letter, Sheikh Hasina reiterated that Bangladesh attaches high importance to its relations with France.
“The bilateral ties are deeply rooted in our shared values of democracy, sustainable development, and global peace,” she wrote in her letter, according to a release of the PMO Press Wing.
Sheikh Hasina recalled that President Macron and she charted a new direction for mutual cooperation during their visits to Paris and Dhaka in 2021 and 2023, respectively, to work towards a strategic partnership.
“We have decided to address multifarious global challenges, e.g., climate change, energy transition, maintaining international peace, and sustainable development,” she wrote.
The prime minister said that there are enormous possibilities for new cooperation in trade, investment, water-resources development, aviation, defence, climate action, and knowledge sharing to take the existing partnership to a new level.
Sheikh Hasina wished Gabriel Attal a successful tenure as the prime minister of the French Republic and looks forward to working closely with him for the mutual benefit of the people of Bangladesh and France.
