Newly appointed Bangladesh Army chief of general staff Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman and principal staff officer of the Armed Forces Division, Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shameem, on Monday paid a courtesy call on president Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban in Dhaka.
During the meeting, the president was apprised of various activities of the Bangladesh Army, president's press secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS later.
The new CGS and the PSO sought the directives and guidelines from the President, Supreme Commander of the AFD, to discharge their duties.
Welcoming the new CGS and PSO, the president hoped that their talent, labour and skills would contribute positively to the development of the armed forces.
In addition to protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, the cooperation of the army in civil administration's activities will increase for the welfare of the country and its people, the head of state hoped.
