The ruling Awami League is set to hold a divisional election campaign in Rajshahi on February 4 next year.

Party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present there, reports Bangla Tribune.

The decision was taken in the Awami League presidium meeting at Ganabhaban on Monday night.

This would be first election campaign being held after the formation of the 22nd national council of Awami League last Saturday.

Sources at the party told Bangla Tribune that to make the campaign successful on February 4, an extended meeting of five organizational units will be held on January 8.

Apart from district unit leaders, the central committee of the ruling party would also participate in the meeting.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started the election campaign in Jessore on November 24.

She also addressed a mass rally in Chittagong on December 4 and on December 7 at the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar.

In these public meetings, the party president gave new messages to the people as well as Awami League leaders and activists.
