Two Rohingyas shot to death at Ukhia camp, two arrested

Two Rohingya people were shot to death allegedly by some unidentified gunmen at Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar early on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Ayat Ullah, 40, and Yeasin, 30. Both were residents of Irani Pahar Rohingya camp 17 of Ukhiya.

Additional deputy inspector general Syed Harunur Rashid, commanding officer of Armed Police Battalion, said some unidentified gunmen opened fire on the camp around 3:00am, leaving Yeasin dead on the spot and Ayat injured.

Ayat was taken to MSF hospital in the camp, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, the officer said.

Two people have been detained in this connection, he added. ‘Efforts are on to identify and nab others involved in the crime.’

The bodies have been sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Examinations.
