Tara Mia used to get Tk30,000 as monthly allowance using fake certificate 

Police have so far arrested seven Razakars from Mymensingh, including one drawing freedom fighter’s allowance, after the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants against 12 from the district.

Three of them were arrested on charges of committing crimes against humanity in Mymensingh's Ishwarganj area on Thursday night.

Ishwarganj police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Mia confirmed the arrests.

The three latest arrestees are Habibur Rahman Menu Mia, 78, Md Abdul Mannan Cari, 92, Md Abdul Hannan, 68.

Habibur Rahman is the son of the late Intaz Ali of Itaulia village in Atharbari union, Mannan is the son of the late Abdul Hamid Fakir Iman Ali of Fanur village in Jatia Union, and Hannan is the son of the late Abdul Gafur of Sohagi Union.

Ishwarganj police OC Abdul Quader Mia said: “The three accused were arrested and sent to jail on Friday. We are trying to arrest the others.”

Earlier, Ishwarganj and Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police conducted raids in the same case on Thursday and arrested Tara Mia, 70, Mohammad Rustam Ali and Syed Mostafizur Ramzan.

Tara Mia of Atharabari is known in the area as a wounded freedom fighter. He used to get Tk30,000 as monthly allowance, and was given a 10 decimal government land in Atharabari and a flat in Dhaka's Mohammadpur.

Locals were astonished when the police arrested him on charges of war-time crimes.
