Offenders in Cumilla incident to be nabbed soon : Kamal

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said law enforcement agencies have already identified most of those offenders in Cumilla temple incident and the agencies are quizzing those culprits to this end.

"Law enforcement agencies have already detained some of the suspects in Cumilla incident. They are being interrogated. Steps have already been taken against those who are involved violence in some places of the country," said the home minister while talking to journalists at his secretariat after a meeting with top officials of law enforcement agencies over the incidents.

The home minister said those who are involved in the Cumilla incident will never be spared. It is an attempt to thwart communal harmony, which had been prevailing in the country from time immemorial, he added.

"None will be spared in Cumilla incident. Culprits will be nabbed soon," Asaduzzaman Khan asserted.

"We are investigating into the matter. We must haunt down who are involved in this incident. We have already identified some persons in the incidents," the minister said.

Kamal also said intelligence surveillance has beefed up across the country following the incident to avert any incident like that.

"We can say clearly that those who practice religion peacefully, they cannot do such incidents. We think that it is an attempt to destroy the communal harmony."

"Such an evil attempt was made to disrupt law and order. We will take action against those who are trying to create unrest and anarchy. If anyone tries to collude such incident will be brought to the justice," he said.

Kamal said, "Everyone should have patience so that none can create chaos till the immersion of the idol of Goddes Durga. Our tradition is to work together and maintain a peaceful coexistence irrespective of all religions. The law enforcement agencies will co-operate in every possible way to maintain peace and stability."

The minister said that a decision was taken to install CCTV in each puja pandal and deploy volunteers side by side the members of the law enforcement agencies but it was found that committee members of many puja mandaps did not install CCTV and deploy volunteers.

 "I urge all to set up CCTV and deploy your own volunteers in all puja mandaps," said Kamal.
