5.3 magnitude earthquake jolts Bangladesh

The quake could be felt in Tokyo about 400 km south of the epicentre Bigstock

The epicentre of the earthquake was 8km from Lakhipur in Assam, India

An earthquake of a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Bangladesh including the capital Dhaka on Wednesday morning. 

As per United States Geological Survey (USGS) data, the epicentre of the earthquake was 8km from Lakhipur in Assam, India.

According to media reports, the tremor was also felt in several districts including Dinajpur, Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Sherpur, Rajshahi and Naogaon.
