The deceased, Nur Nabi, 35, son of Ismail Hossain, of Shahabajpur under Pangsha in Rajbari used to live in Wireless gate area of Moghbazar and used to earn his livelihood by pulling rickshaw van. He had been passing by the site when the explosion happened.

With the death of Nur Nabi, the death toll in the explosion that collapsed a building partially and affected at least six others near Moghbazar’s Wireless gate area has risen to 10.

Nur Nabi died at the intensive care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at about 4:30am on Thursday, said SM Ayub Ali, resident surgeon of the burn institute.

Six died on the spot while another youth died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital later on the day.

Another body was recovered from the damaged three-storied building on Tuesday. Besides, one more victim died at the institute on Wednesday.

Police filed a case on Tuesday with the Ramna police station over the explosion in a Moghbazar building, mentioning seven entities and an individual as suspects for their ‘negligence’ that led to the blast.

None was arrested so far.
The preliminary investigation of the police suggested that ‘leaked gas’ was the main reason of the blast that took place in the building at Shaheed Sangbadik Selina Parvin Road on Sunday evening.
