Police arrested two staff of Dhaka Bank Thursday night as about Tk 4 crore went missing from the vault of the bank’s Bangsal Branch.
The arrested are the branch’s cash in-charge Rifatul Haque and Imran Ahmed.
Official sources in the bank said that the matter of missing the huge amount of money was detected on Thursday by the bank branch officials who informed the matter to their high-ups.
Later, as per the high ups’ direction, the two bank officials were handed over to police for taking legal action, they said.
The sources, however, could not say how the amount went missing.
Bangsal police sub-inspector Masum Billah told New Age that they sent the two bank officials to the court after the bank authorities filed a case with the police station.
He, however, declined to say whether the police would apply to interrogate the bank officials in their custody.
