Panam city is another most visited tourist attraction in Sonargaon area. It is close to Sonargaon museum like around half a kilometer far. The name of this Sonargaon area was Suvarnagram. In the 13th century, local Hindu king Danujmadhob Doshoroth Dev established his capital in this Suvarnagram. After that when the Muslim governance came this Sonargaon was one of the capital and administrative hub of independent Bengal sultanate till 1610. Lots of residential, commercial and religious architectural things established at that time.

history book of the panam cityFrom Capital Dhaka, the Panam City is 30KM far. In the 19th century, the rich Hindu traders found this Panam city as there place. This place length is 600 meter and width is 5 meter, consists of 52 old buildings in Panam city, in standing both sides of the road. All the old architectural buildings are abandoned. Most of the buildings are rectangular, north-south stretched up and maximum are one to two-storied and some are three-storied.

As for the architectural design of these buildings, European and Mughal artist skills have been blended throughout. Moreover, the local architectural also applied in these building structures. Various sizes bricks have been used for this buildings. Also with mosaic, colorful glasses, wooden beams etc. In this area, there is a history book of the Panam city, also there are some ponds with Ghats and many wells. There are some flower gardens beside the roads with the flowers in Panama city.

The other historical and important places nearby to visit are Panam Nagar Bara Sardarbari, Choto Sardarbari, Panam Bridge, Poddarbari, Gwaldi Masque, Takshal, Moth, etc.
How to reach Panam City:

The best to go in Panam City by hiring a car from rent a car. Tourist also can go by bus. Rent a car fee will around 3000 (round trip). From Gulistan near the stadium road tourist can get the bus for Sonargaon. Bus name is Borak Paribahan fare is 40 taka from Gulistan and Borak AC Paribahan fare is 60 BDT. Tourist also can go from Jatrabari bus stand area also by Borak Paribahan. The fare is 30 BDT.

There are two ways to reach in Sonargaon. One is Mograpara bus station and another one is Chaity Garment’s area road. From Chaity garment’s are road it is 1 km away and from Mograpara bus station it is 2km. After reach there takes the tom-tom or rickshaw. In tom-tom, it is 15 BDT each and by rickshaw, it is 30 BDT fare. There are two gates to enter the Sonargaon museum.

flower gardens beside the roads are nearby the Sonargaon Museum. Only half Kilometer distance from there. So tourist can see this two places on the same day. Walk through there or take rickshaw of 15 taka fare to reach.
Tickets:-

For Local tourist is 15 BDT, for SAARC tourist and foreign tourist is 100 BDT. For under 5 year’s child and disabled people do not need tickets.

Regular off day is Sunday and other all the Government holidays.
