Eid holidaymakers continued returning Dhaka and other cities on Tuesday amid the current restrictions on public movement and activities.

On the day the number of people coming from southwest districts to the capital and adjacent areas by ferries comparatively decreased, said officials of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation.

Almost all ferries were plying on the major ferry routes in the River Padma.

People were also seen coming back from different northern districts by trucks, cars, motorcycles and other transports.

They were seen violating health regulations by not maintaining social distance and wearing masks properly.

Earlier, the country celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday.

The passengers were seen travelling to and from the terminal area by motorcycles, cars, and auto rickshaws.

BIWTC assistant general manager (commercial) at Paturia terminal Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury said that on Paturia-Daulatdia water route all 16 ferries were running.

The restriction was extended in phases while on May 5, the government extended it till May 16, relaxing flight operations and allowing intra-district movement of buses.
