A Dhaka court today placed Jubo Mohila League's suspended leader Shamima Nur Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon on a three-day remand each in a case filed for amassing about Tk 6.24 crore illegally.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order after ACC's Deputy Director Shahin Ara Momtaz, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court with a three-day remand prayer.

In the remand prayer, the IO said the couple amassed the money illegally and they need to be remanded to find out the sources of the wealth.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against the couple with its Integrated District Office-1 of Dhaka on August 4.

On October 12 this year, the couple was jailed for 20 years in another case file for possessing illegal firearms.
