The number of infections from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has been increasing alarmingly for the past couple of days in Chittagong in what health specialists think is a precursor to a second wave.
On average, 100 people are being diagnosed with the deadly infectious disease for the past few days.
Chittagong Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi warned people of a possible second wave of Covid-19 in winter.
Urging people to abide by health guidelines, particularly wearing protective masks, the Civil Surgeon said that all had to be careful from now on about the possible second wave.
“All must wear protective masks to remain safe from the highly infectious disease,” said the Civil Surgeon.

“Most of the recovered patients have received treatment by staying at home. Therefore, one must consult a doctor immediately after developing any symptoms of Covid-19. Besides, people should get themselves tested and keep themselves isolated until they get the test reports,” the Civil Surgeon said.
According to the physicians, the number of infections has risen and the tendency of getting tested among people has risen as well.
At the beginning of November and at the end of October, the number of daily infections was below 100 in Chittagong.
According to information provided by the Chittagong Civil Surgeon office, a total of 22,883 people have so far been diagnosed with Covid-19. Of the infected, 17,012 people hail from metropolitan areas while the remaining 5871 people are from different upazilas of Chittagong.
As of November 17, a total of 311 people have succumbed to the deadly viral disease.
