According to instructions issued in 2019, all private universities have to update the approved syllabus every four years from the date of approval of each program
The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) has called for effective initiatives to update the syllabi of ongoing programs in private universities.
The directive was provided on Monday through an order sent to the vice-chancellors and registrars of private universities, read a press release published by the UGC on the same day.
Instructions were issued in 2019 to update the approved syllabus every four years from the date of approval of each program as per conditions of program approval in private universities following the commission’s guidelines vis-a-vis preparing a standard syllabus.

Modern and up-to-date curriculum, diversification of subjects, gaining new knowledge in science and technology are essential elements for achieving the desired quality of higher education.
The commission considers it necessary to ensure higher quality education in the global context. The UGC has thus requested that necessary steps be taken to update the approved ongoing programs.
