Local Khasias detained SI Akbar

SI Akbar, the main accused in the case of torture and murder of Raihan at the Bandarbazar police outpost in Sylhet, has been arrested.

According to the police, the local Khasias detained Akbar from the Dona border in Kanaighat area of ​​Sylhet around 12:30 pm. He was then handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB.

He is being taken to the office of the Superintendent of Police after his arrest. The police is scheduled to hold a press conference on the issue at 5 pm.

Raihan, a resident of Akhalia Neharipara in Sylhet, was picked up at the Bandarbazar outpost on the night of October 10 and tortured. Raihan died the next day. The incident caused a storm of protests across the country.

When his wife filed a case in this incident, an investigation committee of SMP found the truth. On 12 October, four people, including SI Akbar Hossain in charge of the outpost, were suspended and three others were withdrawn. On 13 October, Akbar escaped from police custody. He was arrested today, 28 days after fleeing.
