A Dhaka court on Sunday granted a two-day remand for suspended Dhaka South City Corporation councillor Irfan Salim and his bodyguard Zahidul Islam in a case filed over assaulting a Navy officer.

Magistrate Ziaur Rahman of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the order after hearing a five-day remand petition filed by the police.

The police produced Irfan, son of Dhaka-7 constituency lawmaker Awami League leader Haji Salim, and his bodyguard Zahid before the court at the end of their three-day remand granted earlier.

Navy Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan on Monday filed the case against Irfan and his associates for assaulting him at the Kalabagan crossing recently as the officer had complained after Salim’s car hit the officer’s motorbike.
