Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) has discussed about establishing industries in specific zones, according to a press release.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, also the chairmen of the National Steering Committee on Ease of Doing Business, chaired the meeting and discussed about the matter during a virtual meeting on Thursday.
BIDA is coordinating with all stakeholders to facilitate business or upgrade the Ease of Doing Business index to double digits by 2021.
The minister also thanked to the efforts of everyone as the index of Ease of Doing Business raised to 168 from 176.
"We have to move forward by implementing the decision as directed by the prime minister. Improving the Ease of Doing Business Index will save our time, as well as saving us a lot of unnecessary costs," said Mustafa Kamal.
The finance minister said, the business environment will also improve a lot by saving both time and cost. The mapping that BIDA has done for Ease of Doing Business will create a linear responsibility organisation chart.
He went on, "We have to ensure that who will do the work in which stage, who will implement the work and give the final certification. We also have to ensure smooth implementation of our works step by step, and the works will be completed within a timeframe."
To this end, BIDA will work in coordination with various ministries, departments and agencies, he added.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Local Government Minister Md Tajul Islam, Adviser to the prime minister on Private Industries and Investment Salman F Rahman, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, BIDA Executive Chairman Md Sirajul Islam, among others, participated in the meeting.
