Pradeep, Liakat put on 7-day remand

Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das and two others - Inspector Liaqat Ali, in-charge of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre, and Sub-Inspector Nandadulal Raxit - have been placed on seven-day remand each in a case lodged over the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.  


Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court judge Md Helal Uddin passed the order on Thursday.


The court also asked to question the rest four accused- assistant sub-inspector Liton Mia, constable Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun- at jail gate.


The court rejected their bail petitions during a hearing of the case in presence of seven of the nine accused in the case.


A good number of additional members of law enforcing agencies were deployed on the court premises.


A large number of people thronged deputy commissioner's office compound when the eight accused were taken to the court.


Meanwhile, Teknaf OC Pradeep Kumar Das surrendered before the same court during the hearing.


Sinha's elder sister Sharmen Shahria Ferdush filed the case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday.


On Friday night, former army official Sinha Md Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at Shamlapur check-post under Baharchhara Union in Cox’s Bazar–Tekhnaf Marine Drive.
