21 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Saturday, taking the death toll to 3,132.
Besides, 2,199 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 239,807 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Saturday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 8,669 samples were collected and 8,802 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,185,611 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,117 new recoveries, a total of 136,253 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 16 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 11-20 years, one between 41-50, four between 51-60, eight between 61-70, five between 71-80 and one was between 81-90 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, nine hailed from the Dhaka division, three from Chattogram, five from Khulna, one each from Rajshahi and Mymensingh and two from Barishal division.
10 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and one died at home.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 678,695 as of Saturday morning, according to the data provided by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 17,531,059 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 5,914,449 infected patients, 5,848,846 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 65,603 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 10,272,824 people have recovered.
