Prof Dr AHM Enayet Hussain has been appointed as the chief of the Directorate General of Health Services, a key agency in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Enayet Hussain was the additional director general (Planning & Development) of DGHS.
The government made the appointment after Abul Kalam Azad resigned from the post of director general amid a series of scams related to COVID-19 tests.
Azad has been facing intense criticism since March, when COVID-19 struck Bangladesh and gave rise to the scandals in the health sector.
