Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Shibpur in Narsingdi this afternoon.
The accident took place in front of Shibpur Pacharbari on the Manohardi-Shivpur regional road around 12 noon. However, the names and other details about the deceased could not be known immediately. One of the dead is a woman.
Shibpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Afzal Hossain confirmed the accident.
He said an autorickshaw carrying passengers from Itakhola was going to Manohardi. When the autorickshaw reached a place called Pacharbari in Chakradha Union of Upazila, it collided with a truck going to Itakhola. The autorickshaw was completely twisted. Six people, including the autorickshaw driver and passenger, were killed on the spot. After receiving the information, the fire service and the police are conducting a rescue operation.
