Jamaat-Shibir to be banned by Wednesday: Law Minister

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Haque confirmed Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir will be banned by executive order within tomorrow (Wednesday). The Minister stated this while talking to reporters at the secretariat on Tuesday (July 30).

The Law Minister said if Jamaat-Shibir is banned, then law and order and the politics of the country will improve a lot.


He further said that if any party is banned, then it is by executive order, not by any judicial order.


Earlier on Monday (July 29), the 14-party alliance led by the ruling party Awami League decided to ban Jamaat-Shibir in a meeting held at Ganobhaban in view of the conflict and violence surrounding the student quota movement.

 
According to several sources present in the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Jamaat-Shibir behind the acts of sabotage, arson and attacks on the police in recent times across the country. In order to uphold the spirit of the liberation war, a decision has to be taken about them.
