Man held for allegedly killing wife in Laxmipur

Police detained a man for allegedly killing his wife in Laxmipur Sadar upazila on Thursday (July 4) morning. The incident took place at Tumchar village in the Sadar upazila early today.

The deceased was identified as Salma Aktar, wife of Kamrul Hasan Sumon.

According to relatives, Salma and Sumon had a love affair and got married nearly a year ago. Sumon married another girl introduced through TikTok when his first marriage completed six months.

Since then, Suman continued to torture his first wife in various ways. Today, he beat his wife mercilessly and later took her to a hospital where duty doctor declared her dead.

On suspicion, they detained Suman and handed over him to police.

Laxmipur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Saifuddin Anwar confirmed the news and said legal action will be taken in this regard after investigating the incident.
